Imagine...
   a city with Intelligent Infrastructure

We can create a better life for everyone. The whole world needs to take the next step, developed and developing Countries.

Networked Schools in Developing Countries

Computer Learning Centers, Research, Presentations and Communications will shrink the Digital Divide and the whole Society benefits from better educated Citizens. The next Generation is the Future.

First Responders where information can mean the difference

Police, Fire, Ambulance. Coordination and Communication with central command can mean the difference between life and death every day... and when disasters like Flood or Earthquakes happen, wireless is the ONLY way to communicate.

Intelligent Traffic Systems make a city more efficient

Saving money and time for Government, Business and Citizens. Synchronizing Traffic Lights, Balancing Vehicular Traffic, Expiditing Emergency Event handling, Traffic Monitoring Cameras, Highway Advisory and Alerts all combine to REDUCE DELAYS 21%, REDUCE FUEL CONSUMPTION 18% and REDUCE EMMISSIONS 15% a WCAI Study shows.

... And of course, The Smart Grid

The Smart Grid is much more than just reading meters

The Smart Grid will make our Power supplies more Reliable and more Efficient by allowing the Utilities to communicate with Power Grid assets from the Power Plant to the Substations and to Meters.

If the Utilities could "see" exactly where a black out has occurred, they could operate their Re closures to more quickly restore Power. If they could "see" local power demand spikes, they could modulate voltage at individual sub-stations to prevent brown outs.

Millions of smart meters have already been installed and millions more are being installed every year. Demand Response Appliances have been installed for years in the form of free thermostats (and other devices) from Cities and Utilities, just waiting to be connected.

We have what they need

The Grid SaverTM. is a Multi use, Picocell, wireless, integrated device.

It is Un-Interruptible Communication AND Feeds the Grid with Distributed Renewable Solar Energy during "Peak Load" in the Middle Mile, right in the City where it is most needed. No Line Loss from long transmissions. It is IP based, so any
Utility Management Software can run over a Secure Network.

A Utility or Municipality can run intelligent LED Street Lights & Traffic Signal Lights. They can DSCADA (Monitor & Remote Control) Electric Grid Assets such as Substations, Transformers, Synchrophasors AND collect Data from Smart Meters.
Volt/VAR, Renewable and Distributed Generation Feeds(Solar & Wind), Substations, Synchrophasors, Transmission Lines, Meters...

We connect the infrastructure, that is what makes a Smart City.

IBM "gets it".
These are the Applications of a Smart Grid.

Here is just one Practical Application of the Grid Savertm
that IBM was just talking about in the video above.

Using an ABB Re closure in the Field that Communicates through the Grid Savertm Internet of the Smart Gridsm back to the Utility that a Temporary Fault was cleared, or that the Fault was Permanent and a Line Crew needs to be Dispatched to a
specific section of the Line.

See the ABB Demonstration of their field unit here;
